The King of All Time08 Jul

How could anyone not watch at least a portion of Michael Jackson’s memorial service yesterday?  It seemed as if every channel on TV was covering what was deemed the most highly attended memorial service since Princess Diana’s.  I must admit to being a little overwhelmed by the amount of time the media spent on covering this event.

But what sent shivers up my spine was when the choir sang, “Soon and very soon we are going to see the King” right before they rolled out the casket. Um…….I don’t think this is what the writer of this song had in mind when he penned these words.   Have we lost our minds, substituting a mortal person for the King of All Time - One God, Immortal, Invisible, ever and always? (1 Timothy 1:17  The Message)

One day we will see the King, but not the king who was being worshiped yesterday.  The King I’m talking about is the King of the nations, the King of the Jews, the Lord of Lords.  One every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is the King.

“Mighty your acts and marvelous, O God, the Sovereign-Strong! Righteous your ways and true, King of the nations! Who can fail to fear you, God, give glory to your Name?  Because you and you only are holy, all nations will come and worship you, because they see your judgments are right.”  (Rev. 15:3.4  The Message)

    Rest in peace, Mr. Jackson.
