He Shakes Us to Wake Us

Things not going as smooth as you’d like for them to?  Not to worry.  God is there.  Read these two paragraphs from Jan Hettinga’s Follow Me.

“The fact is, every Christian has a unique obstacle course to run.  We each have things ‘on our plate’ to deal with that are different from what others have on theirs.  Overcoming means not letting what is producing your degree of difficulty stop you from following Jesus.  Sickness, an unhappy marriage, rebellious children, financial reversal, a job you hate, cantankerous neighbors, a disappointing church – whatever it is, it can and must be overcome.

Even when our loving Leader challenges us by rocking our little world, He is with us. He shakes us to wake us - and delivers us from trusting in ourselves and worldly securities.  He intends for the roofs of our souls to sink deep into the soil of His constant supervision and companionship.  He is the only adequate ground of our being.  We have not arrived at the destination of His good intentions for us until we find our rest in Him”    Pg. 224

What about that?  He shakes us to wake us from trusting in ourselves and to rely soley on Him.  In my life right now, there’s a whole lot of shakin’ going on!
