“Because you got a double dose of trouble and more than your share of contempt, your inheritance in the land will be doubled and your joy go on forever.” (Isaiah 61:7)

Do you ever feel like you get more than your share of trouble?  Do you ever feel like bad things just keep happening and they don’t seem to stop?  Take heart, my friends!  Double for your trouble!   This was the promise God made to the people of Israel through the prophet Isaiah.   At the time Isaiah spoke these words, the nation of Israel had suffered greatly because she  turned away from God. She was walking in the wrong direction.  But God takes great delight in His people and promises them double blessings for all of their double calamities, once they turn back to Him.   At the very least, He promises to uphold and sustain them during the days of their suffering.

We too, can claim this promise, when we turn to God in times of trouble instead of away from Him.
