Stay Connected to Jesus

LOOK: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing…If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” John 15:5,7
LEARN: When Jesus spoke these words to His disciples, He knew this would be the last time He would be able to talk to and teach them about the Kingdom of God. Making the most of the time He had left with them, Jesus put an urgent plea before the twelve men: “Remain in me. If you remain in Me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.”
Jesus told his disciples if they want to be fruitful, if they want to live according to His purpose for them, if they want to live victorious lives, they must stay connected to Him. Their connection to Jesus would determine their destiny. Their connection to Jesus would determine whether or not their prayers were answered.
Once again using a perfect word picture to illustrate his point, Jesus likened their relationship to that of a living plant. He is the vine, the main source of water and nutrients, while the disciples are the branches that depend upon the vine for survival. As the branches must remain connected to the vine in order to grow and multiply, so too, must the disciples remain connected to Jesus for the same reasons.
Jesus makes it very clear what will happen should they become separated from Him. Apart from Him, the vine, they will not be able to do anything.
LIVE: STAY CONNECTED TO JESUS
How do we stay connected to Jesus?
S cripture. Jesus said if His words remain in us, we will remain connected to
Him. Spending time reading and studying Scripture is critical to this union.
T ime spent with other believers. We stay connected with God by forming
relationships and getting close to other people who are mature in their faith. When we get close to Godly people,
we get close to God.
A ttitude of prayer, praise and worship. Our prayers, our praise and our worship make us acutely aware of our connection to the creator.
Y ou make the choice! Being connected to the Creator is simply a choice that we all have to make.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, help me to stay connected to you. Help me to spend more time in Your word, and in an attitude of prayer, praise and worship. Help me to develop relationships with other people. I want to make the choice to remain in You. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Thank you Ronda. I am trying to stay connected with Jesus.
I have been born & raised in the church and I am a strong believer; my only problem is my faith waivers!
I know that life is not going to be peaches & cream all the time but, it’s like when I am reading different scriptures, they are contradicting. My father is a pastor at Gideon Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX snd I go to him for everything. He always tell me to trust God and I do but I do not have any patience. I am at least 20 miles from church and sometimes I do not have any gas to come to church (my dad gives me gas $ sometime but I don’t like asking him for $) or even pay my tithes. My bills take up so much of my income that I don’t have anything to give back. I feel like I am beiing punished but, God knows my heart. So I always cry and ask why am I having a hard time with finances, a good job, school if God knows my situation. I try not to even think like this but it is very hard. I am just so frustarted with myself and my faith and with my situation. Please pray for me. I loved your site also.
Thanks,
Ambitious One
Hello Ambitious One,
I will pray for you. I know that through our tough times, God teaches us many things. I agree with your father – keep your eyes on God, ask Him for wisdom and trust Him always. Be open to what God is teaching you so that you will become more mature and complete in your faith. And always remember that God is faithful.
Blessings,
Ronda
